I have owned a Special 6 jacket for 4 years, has served me well through some of the worst weather Ireland can throw at me. The windproof pertex layer is amazing, though not waterproof this jacket does very well in the rain. Buffalo recommend wearing this against the skin, i prefer using a Lowe Alpine Dry-Flo or something similar. This jacket is great as an outer layer on a cold day, or as part of a layering system, the jacket is very warm and if you find yourself over heating a bit the side ventilation zips are great! The jacket is very hard wearing too, as a military man it has had to endure some rough abuse and has always come through! Would recommend it highly!!!
I have just recently purchased my 2nd spec 6 jkt which more than suits my needs my first has lasted 8yrs of abuse and has never let me down it has travelled quite a few places in its time in some extreme and in hospitable places. The shirt i have just bought is cut longer than my original and also the pile lining seems to be a lot loftier although i assume through wear and tear this will change. I opted for black in colour so it can be worn without much attention for everyday use both in the field and everyday walking/hiking/mountain biking. I would go against the recomend use of next to the skin as i prefer to use with a helly hansen lifa or similar. I highly recommend this shirt to anyone for any type of activity although can be a bit warm come spring but still great for wearing in the evening chill. Both my purchases of this shirt have been through this shop as i know i am getting the genuine article, I know quite a few people who have purchased through other wellknown stores ect only to have recieved copy items or very old stock ect.
Prob not the best time of year to be writing a review as this smock will prob sit at bottom of your Bergan until at least end Sept/Oct lol. Well worth the money and will last for years a good investment,great piece of kit, no frills and not for primma donnas,does the job as they say,I have tried all the alternatives in horrible weather and this one is hard to beat,a bit more expensive than the others but you get what you pay for. Smock is not designed for posing, does the job its designed for, highly recommend if youre a serious outdoor person who doesnt care about looks ect.
