I originally bought these for a ski trip, for which they worked very well. They have lots of useful zips and pockets and the fabric on the outside reinforced well up the legs, so no problems with abrasion damage. Plus they have some padding on the knees which initially felt a bit odd, but was handy in the snow.
They are also usable for walking in the UK, as they have a full length zip up the side which means you don't get too hot. They are still warm though, so I imagine I will only use them in winter. They are very waterproof and breathable (though not absolutely impermeable if you sit in a puddle), certainly more comfortable than wearing over trousers (softer than gore-tex).
Very pleased so far and looking forward to using on more winter trips in future. I hope these will last a long time - especially given the price.
