trust me on this one, YOU DONT NEED GORETEX IF YOU BUY THESE. i've had these for a year now, have worn them in all conditions and they're unbelievble. i will be buying another pair if my ones pck up. they'll take the punisment. forget goretex, buy these and spent the difference on some beer, or something else.
I have worn them on two occasions in the Wicklow Mountains. I am very impressed with the waterproof and windproof qualities of these trousers. They kept me warm and dry in sub-zero temperatures and when they were removed (very easy over booots) they was no sign of moisture on the inside. Well worth the money.
Normally I don't like wearing overtrousers and I leave them them in my rucksack for as long as possible. However the amount of rainfall during August in the North West of Ireland has meant that I have had to wear these trousers frequently. The long zip means they are easy to put on and take off over my walking boots. During some heavy downpours they have kept me dry and fairly comfortable. To avoid any build up of vapour the zips can be lowered as much as is required. There are no pockets or fly on these trousers but for me this is not an issue. All in all a good waterproof trousers at a reasonable price. Ordered these from Jackson Sports on a Sunday night and they were delivered to my door at lunch time on Tuesday - Top class service. Well done.
