Slightly more 'fitted' than the regular extreme smock. The cordura reinforcements and the heavier weight water resistant outer make it feel a lot more bombproof than a buffalo or the extreme smock. I wear it for rescue work and it fits well under a harness. Integrated hood is excellent and helmet friendly. Fantastic build quality. I wouldn't wear anything but a technical t shirt underneath, due to the close fitting and the fact that it's quite a substantial jacket. Montane have taken the basic idea of the extreme smock and improved every area that you would want improved to create a top end professional jacket. Overall i think it's a superb mountain jacket, a real top end and exclusive bit of gucci kit.
I have owned the Extreme smock for 3 years but always felt it looked a little "cheap" and "homemade" compared to modern gucci kit, even though it performed flawlessly. The Resolute goes some way to addressing this and cosmetically the jacket now holds its own with the modern soft-shells. As for build quality I would say it is flawless. Performance wise I wouldn't expect it to differ too much from the Extreme. Just also wanted to give a thumbs up to Jackson Sports, I ordered this jacket on the 9th online with some trepidation never having used them before. The got this jacket to me in western Canada in exactly a week for 14 quid! Pretty great I would say, definitely would use them again. Highly recommended all round!
