The Antelao GTX walking boot is part of Meindl's Comfort Fit range and offers a wider fit than a standard Meindl fit with more room around the toes and a greater boot capacity overall.
The Antelao GTX walking boot is a lightweight boot suitable for people with wider feet. Being part of Meindl’s Comfort-Fit range it offers excellent support and a natural feeling, relaxed fit. The uppers are made from suede and mesh providing a lightweight yet supportive frame. The addition of a GORE-TEX lining ensures that the boot is waterproof and durable in all weather conditions. A small rubber rand at the front further protects against abrasion on rougher terrain. The footbed is extra comfortable made from cork with a wider surface area at the front of the boot. This allows for more movement and support as the foot, particularly the toes, can lay straight. With a fleece covering this footbed guarantees stability and unbeatable comfort.
The Antelao GTX boasts a Meindl Multigrip 3 (by Vibram) with EVA shock absorber and PU shock absorber meaning reduced impact upon each step and lots of cushioning. The Antelao GTX is perfect for light hikes to hill-walking.
Meindl Comfort Fit: Wider fit than the standard Meindl fit
Meindl's Boots Terrain Category System:
Meindl boots are graded in a category system from A – D. These categories are based on the terrain that the boot will be suitable for. It is important that you choose the correct boot for the type of walking or activity that you’ll be doing. If you are not sure – read on, we are here to help!
Here’s everything you need to know to make a decision about the best boot for you.
Note: most of Meindl's shoes and boots are graded, but if you can’t see a specific grading next to a product, it doesn’t have one, and that means it’s for keeping your feet comfortable on every day adventures.
Meindl’s Top Tips:
Alfons Meindl developed the terrain categories to classify his family’s boots in 1975. Over the years, the system has been refined and it’s now widely used by many footwear manufacturers. If you are looking to purchase a pair of boots we would encourage you to read the terrain categories above.

On the whole I like these boots, but they need a few features updated.
I bought these boots for walking in the Austrian / Continental Mountain trails, and they are comfortable for the wider foot.
The downside for me was no metal locking lace holder to hold your heel in place. Instead Meindl have a soft lace like loop holder which does`t allow to bring your extra long lace down to give you the extra security to hold your heel in place. The next item for improvement would be a longer and better padded tongue. I could no lace my boots to the top because if you did the laces slipped over the top of the tongue!! I was comfortable enough for the two to three weeks of fairly hard walking that I put the boots through and had no problems with my feet. They have an excellent grippy sole unit which is stable and no stone penetration felt through the sole.

Beautifully made and a genuine wide fit. Great ankle support and completely waterproof. Without doubt, the best 3 season boots I have ever owned. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

I purchased these boots from a local boot specialist in the North West. Jackson Sports reply - as you didn't buy these from us, you should take up these issues with that retailer as these problems will be covered under warrenty and they should replace or refund
Only a boot, which really fits, makes you happy.
Please remember that, for technical reasons, there can be slight differences in the size of different types of boots / shoes.
For narrow feet Meindl produces some of their standard models in a narrow last (narrow N).
