The X-SO 70 Mid GTX is a lightweight and comfortable hiking boot with a mid-cut upper. This model, designed for medium mountains, is perfect for anyone looking for a lightweight boot with good ankle support.
Velour and ventilation mesh uppers with new 360’ waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex Surround membrane. Meindl Magic Active Sport sole unit for optimum grip and protection. Cupped heel stabiliser, Air-Active waffle EVA footbed and toe protector.
Meindl has fitted the X-SO Mid GTX with the brand new Gore-Tex® Surround® technology, granting them good breathability as well as durable waterproofing across the whole of the boot. Thanks to this unique construction, your feet remain dry no matter what you are doing. The key advantage of this new technology is found beneath the foot, allowing sweat to dissipate through a Gore-Tex "laminate" into open-cell foam, before being removed from the boot via the sides. Furthermore, the foam makes the sensation of walking more flexible and comfortable.
The X-SO 70 Mid GTX is a lightweight and perfect hiking shoe for hikers who are looking for breathability this summer.
Meindl's Boots Terrain Category System:
Meindl boots are graded in a category system from A – D. These categories are based on the terrain that the boot will be suitable for. It is important that you choose the correct boot for the type of walking or activity that you’ll be doing. If you are not sure – read on, we are here to help!
Here’s everything you need to know to make a decision about the best boot for you.
Note: most of Meindl's shoes and boots are graded, but if you can’t see a specific grading next to a product, it doesn’t have one, and that means it’s for keeping your feet comfortable on every day adventures.
Meindl’s Top Tips:
Alfons Meindl developed the terrain categories to classify his family’s boots in 1975. Over the years, the system has been refined and it’s now widely used by many footwear manufacturers. If you are looking to purchase a pair of boots we would encourage you to read the terrain categories above.

These are the best boots I have ever owned. I already own a pair of Burma Pros, so that's saying something.
Light, grippy as all getout, completely waterproof and comfortable beyond belief.
Can't imagine ever buying boots from a different manufacturer (unless they change the last, of course, which ~I very much hope they don't!)
As ever, fit is everything. I have pretty wide feet and the Meindl last is perfect for me: if you have narrower feet you may find something else works better for you.

Fabulous quick and efficient service from Jackson Sports as always.
The Meindl X-SO70 is my third pair - lots of walking everyday and the most comfortable boot I’ve ever owned.
Thoroughly recommend Jackson Sports and the Meindl boots - thank you.

I wore these boots for a year and a half everyday for work and they held up. I work in retail where I’m standing all day on concrete in a damp environment. The only negative about this boot is your feet get cold.
Only a boot, which really fits, makes you happy.
Please remember that, for technical reasons, there can be slight differences in the size of different types of boots / shoes.
For narrow feet Meindl produces some of their standard models in a narrow last (narrow N).
