You can fold a paper map to show 2x4 panes of the map and it can be easily rolled up or folded. It has a well secured closure. It doesn't have the very heavy and inflexible construction of many map case so it is great for navigation as it encourages your consulting the map, take a bearing etc. Because of the 'sticky' nature of the case material it sticks in your pocket (.e. it doesn't fall out too easily but you would want to secure it well in any case). It is more expensive than other, less expensive products but it is superior. I bought this to replaces a similar and dedicated Ortleib mapcase: I am very glad I bought the A3 size!
This is a great map case. The A3 version allows for a large area of map to be displayed, or you can fold the map case easily to make it smaller. The plastic is very flexible and never cracks, and the sealing method is excellent for keeping the rain out. Just wish I didn't keep losing them!
