Palm Equipment Arc Throwline - 12.5m

Compact and speedy throwline for water rescue. The best throwline is the one you have with you. Carton shaped with a flat profile, it's easy to slip inside your PFD and even more out of the way on a throwline belt. The velcro lid holds its shape when the bag is open and acts as a handle to grasp the bag, making repacking easy. For its small size you'll be surprised at the 12.5 m / 41 ft of 8 mm / 0.31 in rope it contains, and how far and fast it throws. The Quickclip karabiner attachment point makes for a clean line and a tidy package.

Features:

  • Compact shape fits a PFD pocket
  • Velcro lid acts as handle when repacking
  • Quickclip clean line attachment
  • 8 kN static breaking strength
  • Quickclip clean line attachment point
  • Compatible with Palm Quick Rescue belt and Quick Pro belt

Clean Rope Principle - All Palm throwlines conform to the Clean Rope Principle of no loop or handle on the end of the rope furthest from the bag as it could jam on obstacles in the water.

Product Care:

The life of your throwline can be extended by:

  • Not standing on the rope - this forces particles of dirt and grit into the fibres which will weaken the rope.
  • Regularly washing the rope in clean water and hanging to dry.
  • Checking the rope and bag regularly for signs of damage or wear.
  • Avoiding exposure to prolonged, direct sunlight.

Caution: The stated static breaking strength of the rope is when new. Prolonged exposure to sunlight and wear and tear can reduce this. Tying knots in the rope will reduce its strength and can lower the breaking load.

Using Your Arc:

To get the most out of your Arc, we suggest you seek training in the use of throwlines.

Throwing the Arc:

  • The manner of throwing the bag is down to personal preference.
    • An underarm throw is more accurate but an overarm throw can travel further.
    • If you miss, quickly recoil the rope and throw the coiled rope or half-fill the bag with water and throw.

Pulling the swimmer in:

  • Once the swimmer has grasped the rope, they should hold it across their chest and swim on their back to keep their airway clear

Repacking:

  • Repack the bag by stuffing it with loose handfuls of rope.
  • Don’t repack the bag with coiled rope - it will kink, preventing the rope releasing when throwing.

The throwline should be carried with the rope fully tucked inside the bag and the closure fully sealed to avoid the rope escaping and hindering emergency exit from the boat.
