Fit Tip: The Paramo Cascada II trousers are small fitting. We recommend to size up: order the next waist size larger than the size chart suggests.
“Breathability is excellent and the Cascadas are comfortable for wearing all day in a fairly wide range of temperatures. ★★★★★ for comfort, fast wicking, waterproof, side zips, and three leg lengths” The Great Outdoors, Winter Trousers Review, 2017 Ed
“I bought a pair of these trousers last winter along with my Fell-walking buddy, as we were both fed up with the constant hassle of overtrousers. We first tested these trousers the following weekend in the Black Mountains on the worst day we could find on the forecast. After 6 hours of driving rain and wet snow on the ridge, we emerged with warm, dry, comfortable legs but damp, wet-necked and wet-cuffed top halfs. As we had worn conventional high quality mountain jackets. I have now gone out and brought a Páramo jacket for this winter. I am a complete convert - this technology has to be used to be believed. I now fear no weather that the British weather can send.” C.M, Warwickshire
“The best trousers I've had for the Scottish weather - very comfortable, durable and hard wearing and keeping me dry in all weathers, while hillwalking, for 4 years. They unfortunately got torn after completion of my 1st Munro Round after Sgurr Alasdair (the highest peak on Skye) whilst coming down the Great Stone Chute, but otherwise I expect they would have lasted another year or two. I now have a second pair and expect they will be of the same quality as my first pair. I highly recommend them!” Barry, Fife
The Cascada II Trousers are for serious walkers, outdoors for long periods in varying conditions.
If you walk in all weathers, you’ll be familiar with the problem of quickly pulling on overtrousers when conditions worsen – only to remove them once the rain passes! Conventional waterproof trousers trap heat and sweat when you’re working hard and can be noisy and uncomfortable.
Articulated, waterproof walking trousers you can wear comfortably all day in varying conditions.
Directional Nikwax Analogy Waterproof fabric gives you dry next-to-skin comfort and weather protection.
Extensive vents allow excellent temperature regulation when you’re working hard. No need for overtrousers!
The Cascada II Trousers have excellent leg ventilation, a contoured shape, and reinforced knee, thigh and seat areas.
Easy and rapid temperature adjustment provided by 3/4 length reversed side zips with internal poppered storm flaps.
Trim, contoured shape with good articulation for unrestricted movement.
Additional protection from double layer of Pump Liner in seat, thigh and knee areas
Nikwax Analogy Waterproof fabric is more than just breathable, it is directional.
This means it is capable of moving liquid water away from your body and not just water vapour.
It is essential to avoid a build-up of water in your clothing system when you are working hard, as too much retained moisture will lead to your body rapidly chilling when you stop and rest.
In conventional clothing systems, approximately 20% of sweat production is dealt with effectively, leaving the remaining 80% trapped inside.
Nikwax Analogy garments are unique, in that they pump out this 80% of liquid water and allow it to drain away; you are left feeling dry and comfortable.

In what kind of weather conditions can I use my Cascada II Trousers?
The Cascada II Trouserse have been tested to resist at least 4 hours of intense rain; so you can use it throughout the year in cold or wet conditions.
Because the fabric system offers significant insulation when the ventilation zips are closed, this is not the best garment to deal with wet, hot conditions.
How do I care for my Páramo waterproof?
Regularly wash it with Nikwax Tech Wash® to remove dirt and revive its water repellency. If, after washing, the outer fabric absorbs water (it does not run off in beads) it is time to reproof your garment with Nikwax TX.Direct®.
If your waterproof picks up a contamination which cannot be removed in a normal wash, Páramo can professionally wash and reproof it for you.
What if I damage my Nikwax Analogy® Waterproof clothing?
Simple repairs can often be done with a needle and thread without compromising the performance of your Páramo gear.
If you seriously damage a garment, you can send it back to Páramo and request a quote for having it mended – most damage can be repaired!

I decided to pull the trigger on a pair of these pants for winter hiking after also buying a Paramo Alta 3 earlier (I'll review that separately). Being from the US, the Paramo name was initially unknown to me, but after alot of research and help from the owner, Dion, I made my purchase. They shipped to the US in 1 day!. I've used them so far on 2 winter hikes and they are now my favorite hiking pants by far. I have two pair of Schoeller pants that are good, but pale compare to these. They feel luxurious agains the skin (I've yet to use a base layer) , were warm on the two cold days (21 degrees F and 23 degrees F) and were very quiet. I haven't tested them in any rain, so the jury is out on that aspect. I'm curious as to what point I have to use a base layer to stay warm. At 21 degrees with my other pants, I definitely would have one under there. Not so for these. A couple of tips.....my waist is 32 and I was concerned the M would be too big. Dion tried a pair on in M (he apparently has similar dimensions) and recommended I go with M. Perfect! I had read that the soft liner can cause the pants to pull down off your butt. I anticipated that and immediately installed a 1 1/4 inch web belt I had and I had zero issues. And, it did not interfere with my hip belt. I did try them on without the belt and I could see how with the soft fabric and elastic waist, it could easily pull down. Put that belt on there and it will not move. You also have to be careful of thorns. They'll catch that fabric pretty easily, although I did not get any holes. I wear long gaiters in the winter and that will eliminate any issues on the lower legs. And by the way.....my Sea to Summit eVent gaiters fit better on these than any other pants I've used. So.....I'm extremely pleased with these and highly recommend them.
I have been very comfortable wearing my Paramo Cascada 2 trousers and unreservedly recommend them to all hillwalkers. They are warm in cold weather and kept me dry in prolonged rain, obviating the need for overtrousers, which are a struggle to don on a steep heathery hillside! Even during overheating on a walk-up, the trousers don't stick but slip and slide making movement easier. My only reservation is about size; you need to go a size larger to get room for your backside!!! I am a medium short but had to change to a large short to get room to manouver.
These trousers are waterproof, comfortable and allow plenty of movement. Somebody else commented that the sizing is a bit on the small side, I also found this to be the case. I ordered a size larger and they fit perfectly so perhaps something to bear in mind. All round very satisfied
In order to repair a small tear in your waterproof trousers a very good solution would be the Gore-tex repair patches as found if you click the following link.
