well i weighed my mountain hardwear jacket and pants 950grams in total but using the snugpak poncho i have saved myself 610grams thats a great saving. i will combine this with a buffalo special six shirt or montane extreme smock or a snugpak pile and pertex shirt so if i was hill walking i would just wear the pertex and pile shirt .As the argument with ponchos are they will blow you off the top of hill or peaks as they act like a sail but appart from that the weight saving of 610 grams is fantastic and if you are 1 man hiker with a 1 man tent so you cant cook near the tent you put this on or if you are on a camspite and you want to nip to the toilets these no messing around with velcro and prestuds just slide the poncho over your head if it is raining i think it is great very light in weight

This poncho is lightweight and packs well into an ammunition pouch. The poncho's design helps me keep a good pace in the hills. The Snug Pack poncho slips over the head and covers backpack, keeping one comportable and dry. The big advantage of the Snug Pack poncho and the reason I bought it is to keep one dry while getting into a Bivi Bag in rain. I have not tested this use in the rain, but from using it in other situations it should work perfectly. If you need a poncho, I would highly recommend this one. It is more expensive than most but well worth it.

I have owned this for about a year, takes up very little pack space and is nice and light. Normally wear this around the hills around Perthshire when out walking and performs well in light rain. Just returned from Dunkeld where it was p***ing down all morning, proper monsoon style Scottish rain, it leaked slightly through the seams and breathability was negligible. In short good for light rain, misty conditions but need something more heavy duty up here.
