Washing

All Snugpak® sleeping bags are fully washable by hand or even by a washing machine. We provide all the instruction on the care label, which you can find sewn into one of the inner seams.

However, even the highest grade of insulation/filling will eventually lose some thermal efficiency and structure after repeated wash cycles, so we recommend that washing your sleeping bag should not be done often, especially when using a washing machine. Whenever possible, instead of a full wash, we recommend sponging both inner and outer fabrics with soap and water. Then dry and air your sleeping bag thoroughly before storing back in its compression sack.

If you are machine washing your sleeping bag make sure you read the following guidelines for best results.

1. Zip up the sleeping bag and ensure any draw-cords are entirely in the machine and not trapped in the door before starting.
2. Machine wash on a cool and gentle setting (never more than 30°C/86°F) in a front-loading domestic washing machine (we would advise against using a top loader as the agitator can damage the product).
3. Avoid the use of liquid detergent and fabric softeners as this can leave a residue on the bag, Nikwax Cleaners are ideal.

Snugpack Top Tip: Using a loose liner, which can be washed separately as often as you like, to extend your sleeping bags life. Bag liners will also add an extra layer of comfort and warmth to your bag.

Drying

We recommend you line dry your sleeping bag and we recommend you do not tumble dry.

Warning: Drying sleeping bags in a tumble drier could result in heat damage to the items. This can happen even when using a low-temperature setting if the sleeping bag is left in the dryer too long or doesn’t have enough space in which to tumble freely.

Reproofing

We use a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish on all our sleeping bags, water repellency can be maintained with periodic re-treatment with suitable aftercare products such as Nikwax Water Proofers.

Storage & Packing

Do not store the bag compressed for long periods between uses. While we sometimes roll sleeping bags at the factory for despatch, we would not advise emulating this without special machinery.

Packing a sleeping bag correctly can save you time and more importantly space within your rucksack for your adventure, all you have to do is follow these simple steps to get the best from your Snugpak sleeping bag.

• Step 1: Pick up your sleeping bag from the foot end (you should always pack from the foot end of the sleeping bag) and take around 30cm of the sleeping bag and fold it horizontally over your arm.
• Step 2: With this 30cm horizontal fold, you want to roll it vertically and tight, to then place it within the compression stuff sack.
• Step 3: Next, put the now stuffed compression sack in between your feet whilst holding the remainder of the sleeping bag under your arm (armpit area)
• Step 4: Now take a good handful of the sleeping bag and stuff it into the compression stuff sack. Give the compression stuff sack a quarter turn and repeat until it is fully stuffed. Also, for further information on how to compress your sleeping bag keep reading below.

When space in your rucksack is vital you will need to have a sleeping bag that can be compressed down to a minimal size. Snugpak sleeping bags can be compressed by up to 60% making them ideal for all adventures. However, to guarantee that you get the sleeping bag to it’s most compressed, you have to pack and compress it correctly  (Please see the above info )

1.  Make sure all the compression straps are untangled and flat.
2. Place your knee on top of the compression sack, squashing the sleeping bag.
3. Next pull on the compression straps alternatively, taking care not to over tighten

Please Note: All of our sleeping bags are machine rolled using specialist equipment and will need removing from the compression sack once purchased before you can compress the sleeping bag entirely.
